Developing Champions of Life and Sport

I believe part of our jobs is to create and develop champions of life and sport. Sports coaches are only allowed so much time with their athletes due to NCAA regulations, but a strength and conditioning coach gets to see them all year. We have the opportunity to create an everlasting impact on athletes by instilling lessons of ownership, commitment, and responsibility. These lessons can come through set-up and tear-down of the weight room, creating a culture that does not allow shortcuts, and autonomy. Through leadership and living the words we preach, we can develop leaders that will go out into the world after their time with us and manifest a better tomorrow.

You will never see me using exercise as punishment; instead, it will be by ownership through their team, by their selected leaders, and by their culture. The weight room does not have to be just about lifting the heaviest weight or running the fastest sprint. It can be about moral development and reaching the peak of our character.
